Sunkwa offers educational and hands-on workshop for all ages, we have different programs designed to suit your needs. These workshops are instructed by Kofi Ameyaw a master African musician/teacher who has been teaching in many schools, colleges and universities across the country, Ameyaw is currently teaching African Ensemble at Eastern Michigan University. He is also the musical director of Sunkwa, and Lake Orion Community Drummers

  • Elementary: Designed to teach and bring awareness to school-aged youth on African art and culture. This program requires students participating in physical activities like playing Real Authentic African Drums, singing songs in different languages, and dancing. Instruments are provided



  • College/University Programs: Dedicated to enlighten students to the study and performance of the music and drumming of Africa using authentic instrument, to provide for a learning environment in which to broaden the student's general, technical, historical and practical knowledge of music of other traditions and societies http://www.emich.edu/music/percussion/home.html

  • Community and cultural center: This is designed for community members. Ameyaw is offering community base classes at Riverfolk  Art Center in Manchester and  Lake Orion Art Center in Lake Orion, MI
